Greetings fellow PMI members,

Here is a summary from the last few weeks of what has been accomplished towards creating a local Tallahassee, Florida Chapter of PMI ―  

The Tallahassee Chapter of PMI Steering Committee has continued to meet weekly and has finalized the By-Laws, which have been forwarded to PMI Headquarters for official review.  A section of the By-Laws defines the Board of Director positions with the respective responsibilities and election cycle.  Complying with PMI's start-up requirement to have a Board in place, the Steering Committee has designated and approved the Board positions as follows: 

Founding President - Beth Anne Posey, PMP;
First Vice President - Charles Coldwell, PMP;
Vice President Communications  - Gary Eggebraaten;
Vice President Financial Affairs  - David Goldstein, PMP;
Vice President Professional Development  - Karen Scott;
Vice President Administration  - Alex Eigenmann;
Vice President Membership - Bebe Smith.

In addition to the By-Laws for the Tallahassee Chapter a logo has been drafted and revised by Eric Hyatt of Engelhard Engineering, Bainbridge, GA. 

Start-up efforts are underway for the Tallahassee Chapter web site (yeah!). 

The financial requirements for having a local Chapter are still being assessed as well as the potential sources for contributions.  There will be levels of sponsorship defined, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platium, etc. and the Chapter will in turn give recognition to the sponsors who contribute.   

Research continues for identifying the initial guest speaker.   

What is next?

Get feedback from PMI headquarters on the By-Laws and confirmation the board members are in good standing with the PMI organization.  Turn-around time from PMI headquarters is to be within 2 weeks.

Establish our legal corporation, open a bank account, P.O. Box etc., solicit and collect contributions.

Submit to PMI headquarters a list of 25 current PMI members who wish to be a part of the local Chapter.  

Confirm the guest speaker ―- set a date for kick-off!  The Steering Committee's goal for the kick-off is approximately 4-5 weeks.

If you are not a PMI member, then please remember to join PMI and if asked your affiliation cite the Tallahassee Florida Chapter.  (Go to: <<http://www.pmi.org>> then select "Membership")
