Greetings,

Here is a summary of the recent progress on establishing our local Chapter:

A start-up steering committee is being formed to share ideas and to distribute the effort.  The steering committee members are from several different business areas in order to bring a diverse spectrum of project management interests to our local chapter.

The list of individuals who have responded wanting to have a local Chapter has been forwarded to the PMI headquarters to check current membership status.

The facility to hold our meetings has been confirmed (very nice), and we have a possible alternate facility!  We are looking at starting with a Chapter meeting once every two months, to be held in the evening and have simple catering with a guest speaker at each meeting.

The initial guest speaker has been suggested and we are in the process of determining availability and cost.

An excellent example of by-laws for the PMI Chapter has been received from another chapter.  An additional example of by-laws to reference has also been received.

The steps necessary to incorporate as a non-profit organization in the state of Florida has been researched, each state has its own rules and forms for incorporation.

What is next?

Finalize our start-up steering committee membership

Settle on By-laws and file the incorporation papers

Confirm the guest speaker ―- set a date for kick-off!

Once the start-up steering committee is in place, progress will move at a quicker pace.  We will begin to send regular updates to keep you informed of the status.

Again, thank you all for so much encouraging support!
