Presentation Topic
Kent Crawford, PMP, will present on
the topic of the Strategic Project
Office, based on his award-winning book, The Strategic Project
Office: A Guide to Improving Organizational Performance.
Organizations are moving toward
a project management culture in unprecedented numbers. The rapid
growth in PMI this past decade is one measure reflecting the tremendous
interest demonstrated by industry and government in improving project
delivery results. Project performance is showing gradual
improvement – mostly as a result of focused attention on project
management practice and technique.
Many organizations have
invested significant time, effort, and money on project management
software and training but still are not achieving the desired results.
Few of those organizations have effectively implemented a Strategic
Project Office to provide the link between corporate strategy and
project execution. According to industry analysts, organizations
that do not properly implement a Strategic Project Office will
experience as much as a fifty percent failure rate in their projects by
the year 2004.
The presentation will discuss
the Strategic Project Office, its primary components, and measuring your
organization’s project management maturity. In the course of this
discussion, Kent Crawford will highlight Seven Tips for Successfully
Deploying a Strategic Project Office and the benefits it brings to your
organization.
