Greg Balestrero, CEO, PMI, will discuss project management in the marketplace and the value of the discipline of project management. He will also discuss the Project Management Institute as a professional organization ― where it is and where it is going. Greg Balestrero brings more than 20 years experience in executive-level association experience to the Project Management Institute (PMI). An industrial engineer by training, Balestrero has extensive experience overseeing administrative, financial and internal affairs for industrial associations. Most recently he served as executive director of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), an organization for construction professionals in non-residential building construction, based in Alexandria, Virginia USA. He previously held the position of executive director at the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). As CEO, Balestrero provides leadership and expertise in strategic management for the organization and carries out three primary goals for PMI: to better serve the needs of its members, promote new business through strategic partnerships and alliances, and enhance public awareness. Balestrero is the 2003 incoming chair of the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE). He is also an active member and former president of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE). He was honored with a fellowship in the World Academy of Productivity Scientists and is an honorary member of Alpha Pi Mu, an industrial engineering honor society.
